How the monthly figure is derived
An employer withholds tax on salary at the average rate of tax for the year under section 149 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001. This calculator therefore computes the annual liability and divides it by twelve, so the monthly figure is what a salaried employee can expect to see withheld each month.

Frequently asked questions
Which taxes and contributions are deducted?
Salaried income tax is withheld by the employer. The EOBI employee contribution and, where enabled, provincial social security are also shown. Provincial social security is normally an employer cost and does not reduce net pay.
Why might my payslip differ?
The calculator models salary income only. Your employer may also apply tax credits, arrears or other income heads, and provincial schemes vary. Confirm the exact figures with your payroll department.
Does filer status change my salary tax?
No. Salary withholding under section 149 uses the same slab table for filers and non-filers. The Active Taxpayer List affects withholding on other transactions, where non-filers pay a doubled rate (Tenth Schedule, Rule 1).
What if I also have non-salary income?
The salaried slabs apply only while your salary is more than 75 percent of your total taxable income; below that, the non-salaried rate table applies to the annual assessment. That table is verified against the FBR consolidated Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 and is applied to the total taxable income, with a 10 percent surcharge above PKR 10 million.
Is my salary sent anywhere?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and no salary value is transmitted or stored.
